Spanning almost 6 miles, stretching between the towns of Formby and Southport, it’s offers a wide expanse of sandy beach for all wind sports enthusiasts. It has been awarded the International Blue Flag award for beach cleanliness and management on a number of occasions.

Ainsdale can be ridden at all tide states, with plenty of beach left to launch and land even at high tides, with the exception of high tides over 9m where the tide can flood into the beach car park causing hazards 1hr either side of high tide.
Ainsdale has a variety of conditions available;
Low tide can create some flat water with great kickers lining up. You may have a bit of a walk out to the water though!
On the incoming tide it can become choppy, with lagoons opening up at various intervals.
High tide is generally the choppiest state to ride.
The outgoing tide can create some fantastic lagoons, make sure you make the most of them before they disappear! Caution as they can become increasingly shallow as the tide goes out.
The beach very safe and largely free from hazards however in the summer months it can become busy with beachgoers, it is important to be aware of your surroundings when launching/landing and being vigilant for swimmers.
There are a regular crowd of Chilly Dippers who use the beach during all weathers, so give them a wide birth. There is plenty of beach to go around!
The beach is also used by kite buggies, land boarders and horses.
At high tides over 9m the sea can flood the beach carpark which is marked out with wooden posts, this can become hazardous.
Between 1 April – 30th September the beach car park opens, and you can park directly on the beach.
Parking is charged at £10 per day or £30 for the year.

Winter months the car park is closed. There is however plenty of parking on the Coastal Road on the single yellow lines between 30th September and 1 April.
There is some free parking all year round by the Discovery Centre with a short walk through the sand dunes to the beach.
THERE IS A NEW OFF-BEACH CARPARK IN DEVELOPMENT AND DUE TO BE OPENED SOMETIME IN 2022.
here is no clubhouse or changing rooms at the beach.
There are toilets located at the entrance to the beach on shore road, these are open during summer months.
There is an ice cream van when the suns out and during the busy periods a mobile food truck sells burgers and hotdogs.
The beach has an manned RNLI lifeguard hut during the summer and a marked swimming area to avoid.
The Discovery Centre situated adjacent to the beach and provides local information, a classroom facility, venue for events free cycle hire.
Open during the summer, you are welcome to pop in and see the shell collection and find out what wildlife there is to see and maybe have a go at a family activity.
Kitesurfing at Ainsdale is subject to a permit from Sefton Council. The permit is free and requires you to adhere to a Code of Conduct and hold a valid BKSA insurance policy.

Great stable board as a beginner.
Lots of help from Adam
Bought the badger to progress my riding (had a north cross prior) and noticed a massive difference on first time out, super responsive, fast turns and can charge down the line!!! Highly recommend!!! Top advice and assistance from Northern Watersports to help me choose this board!!!!
Northern kites are a great company and Ozone are the best kites
I have tried a multitude of high tier wings over the past year, and the Vayu's are my favourite by far. I opted for the Blue in 3.5m. I have had a few sessions on it now, and I am blown away by the performance. There is so much power, control, and maneuverability in this wing, it handles the gusts with ease, has a crazy good upwind angle, and is insanely stiff and light, thanks to the aluula section where the front leading edge meets the strut. I also opted for the boom for this 3.5m, but not for my 5m Aura X, as I wasnt sure on the idea, but now I regret not buying one for the 5m, as its definitely a must for winging now.
after nearly 3 years of riding a well known and very very good carbon TT i decided it was time to have a new TT. Many searches and opinions gathered over a few days and i had 3 in the basket - one however was consistently out front ...so i got a Falcon.
This TT is magic ! it suits my riding perfectly - jumping , going fast and carving about - the Falcon i cannot get to skip out on carves - it just grips and grips heel side to toeside and vice versa its on rails.
Its super soft in chop with just the right amount of flex when needed and oh boy is it light ! and there's the downside - be careful on the beach because as its so light it can get blown up the beach- superb board ! Only tip I'd have is to try and get the black fins - mine are white and the leading edge of the fins are stained brown - probably a result of blasting around with seaweed in the water
Great Service and always like dealing with a Supplier you can trust, thank you for my recent order and making sure it was delivered on time - Rare these days however I know that Adam will ensure a great price and great service.
Coming from another carbon board, the Lieuwe Falcon is in another league! Instantly felt grippy, fast and playful with effortless pop but the main difference was how easy it was on my knees in chop compared to my other carbon board. Lieuwe have got the flex absolutely perfect!! Can’t wait to get more sessions in now. I thought the Shotgun was good years ago but this was definitely the right decision to buy.
Big thanks to Adam at Northern Watersports for the fast order and setting up the board. 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Loved this board from the first second. Grips the water to give amazing jumps.
Great price, super fast delivery, will definitely be back !
I love my C-skins beanie, it’s perfect for winter sea dips
Great good quality shirt to join my kite surfing collection
I have not actually used this yet on the water, but the quality is great along with the Fit. Very easy to get on and off with the bonus that the dry suit does not actually look like most and infact looks and feels very good
I'm now very happy with the suit and service from Northern Kites . I did find the neck seal far too tight and my efforts to stretch it enough didn't work. Northern diver did a great job of putting in a replacement seal and now it fits perfectly. I've no hesitation in recommending it overall.
